Hopefully that means you too at the end of this month. On the night of Jan. 20th, 2019 Arkansans will be able to see a total lunar eclipse. The eclipse begins around 9 pm but the peak won't happen until 11 pm.

Eclipses happen because Earth comes between the sun and moon in just a way to cast a perfect shadow onto the moon. The rock 'n roll sounding name of the eclipse comes from a couple of different elements. A "super moon" happens when the moon is closest to the Earth in its orbit as possible. The eerie "blood" term comes from the reddish tint due to atmospheric light filtering and "wolf" is rooted in Native American lore.

Unlike last year's solar eclipse, lunar eclipses do not need any protective eye equipment. Feel free to break out the telescope or binoculars if you'd like to see the Super Blood Wolf Moon up close.

The eclipse will be noticeable from your front door but it's best viewed away from any light pollution. Now would be a great time to stay the night at this campground.
