Springtime keeps teasing its arrival in Arkansas. One way to welcome its upcoming arrival is at Wildwood Park for the Arts in Little Rock. Each year, the park hosts a lantern festival in honor of the first full moon of the Lunar New Year. Part educational culture fest and part luminary celebration, the 10th Annual Lanterns Festival is a fun event the whole family can enjoy.
The Lanterns Festival will be this weekend, March 2nd-4th, 2018.
The festival showcases six to eight different cultures every year. Each culture will have their own vista featuring food, arts and entertainment geared for children and adults.
The moon vista will have a giant moon balloon and a telescope viewing of the night sky.
Snack on a moon pie or sip on Blue Moon beer in celebration of the Lunar New Year.
The most important part of the celebration is the creation of a wishing lantern.
You'll be able to build a lantern, light a candle, and send the lantern off on the lake with a wish. At the end of the night the lake will be aglow with hundreds of lanterns.
Tickets for general admission are $10, ages 6-12 are $5 and those ages 5 or younger are free. At noon on each day of the festival, admission for that evening will increase to $12 for adults and $7 for ages 6-12.
Based on the latest weather forecast, Friday may be the best night to attend. You can purchase tickets for any of the three days through Wildwood Park’s website. Or, for more details, you can also check out their Facebook Page.
