Arkansans know better than to judge a place by its exterior, after all some of our most beloved attractions can be found in rather unsuspecting locations. K. Halls & Sons Produce is an old school grocery store found in the historic district of Little Rock. Driving by, you wouldn’t guess it but this little store has some of the best plate lunches you’ll ever taste. Let’s head to the back of the store and see what’s on the menu.
This little grocery store has a not-so-well-kept secret.
The store was originally a gas station before Knoxie Hall Sr. and Estella Marie Crenshaw Hall turned it into a produce store in 1973. K. Hall & Sons Produce is located at 1900 Wright Ave., Little Rock, AR 72202.
Sure, it looks like a normal grocery store when you walk through the door.
The Halls stumbled into the restaurant business by happy accident. Customers would ask the family if the lunch they had cooked for themselves was for sale. After enough people kept asking about their home-cooked food the Halls began selling burgers, fried chicken, and other southern staples.
Choose from crawfish, crab legs, or even a 14 oz. lobster and pair it with a meals-worth of sides including sausage, corn, and potatoes. Depending on what meat you pick, the plate runs between $4.99 - $19.99. So any lunch budget is welcomed at this store.
You can also catch the family's down-home cookin' at their newly opened food truck.
The brothers opened the Hall Bro's 2 Go truck earlier this year. The truck has all the store's staples like chicken wings and shrimp, but has also added some new favorites like chicken and waffle bites. For more information on the store or food truck, you can follow the Hall family on their Facebook Page.
