It’s hard to beat the clear waters of Lake Ouachita, after all it is one of the most cleanest lakes in the entire nation. However, Arkansas successfully lives up to its “Natural State” by having a numerous lakes perfect for scuba diving or just water-based fun. One of the most pristine places to visit is near Mount Magazine at Cove Lake. Let’s cannonball right into the details of this superb lake.
After you've taken a hike around Mount Magazine, you may want to make one more stop.
Less than 20 minutes away from Mount Magazine State Park is the fabulous Cove Lake. The rec area has a little bit of everything that makes it perfect for a quick day trip or a longer weekend.

The pristine waters attract paddlers, fishers, swimmers, and campers looking for a gorgeous little getaway.
Kayak and paddleboat rentals are available at the rec area for exploring the 160-acre lake. Fishers are guaranteed a big catch or two since the lake is routinely stocked with catfish, large mouth bass, bluegill, sunfish, crappie and perch. If you'd rather be in the water than on it, jump right in! The swim beach is great for a summertime cool-off with the family.
28 campsites line the shores of Cove Lake. The campground has showers, toilets, tent pads, and fire pits for a stress-free trip. Backpackers can begin the Cove Lake Trail from here to journey to the Cameron Bluff Campground in the state park. The trail is just under 10 miles and is rated as moderate.

However you decide to spend your time, the visits will always be memorable at Cove Lake.
