Less than 20 minutes away from Mount Magazine State Park is the fabulous Cove Lake. The rec area has a little bit of everything that makes it perfect for a quick day trip or a longer weekend.

Kayak and paddleboat rentals are available at the rec area for exploring the 160-acre lake. Fishers are guaranteed a big catch or two since the lake is routinely stocked with catfish, large mouth bass, bluegill, sunfish, crappie and perch. If you'd rather be in the water than on it, jump right in! The swim beach is great for a summertime cool-off with the family.

Backpackers can begin the Cove Lake Trail from here to journey to the Cameron Bluff Campground in the state park. The trail is just under 10 miles and is rated as moderate.
