Springtime is in full bloom here in the Natural State. No matter if you’re visiting full-force waterfalls from recent rains or just looking for places to enjoy the new seasonal explosion of color, Arkansas is the place to be this spring. Since the weather has stayed consistently decent, it’s time to plan your trip to the numerous gardens around the state. One of those visits needs to be to the only botanical garden in Arkansas. Fayetteville’s Botanical Garden of the Ozarks is home to the state’s only Butterfly House, and it’s simply magical. Let’s stop and the smell the roses and watch these beautiful creatures flutter through the gardens.
Welcome to the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks! The BGO is the only botanical garden in Arkansas.
Just pick up a checklist from the visitors center to document the types of butterflies fluttering throughout the gardens. The data is being used by University of Arkansas scientists to research the health of the area's pollinator community.
BGO offers classes throughout the year to educate nature enthusiasts about proper backyard butterfly gardening.
The four-day event gives kids an up-close experience with the life cycle of butterflies. Campers will also get to take home a keeper cage and caterpillar to raise at home.
No matter if you're taking an educational trip or simply visiting the botanical garden, these beautiful creatures are simply lovely to watch.
Visits to the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks are $7 for adults and $4 for those ages 5-12.
To become a member of the Botanical Garden Society of the Ozarks, which includes all the free trips to the garden and butterfly house you could ever want, visit their website right here.
