She loves exploring the trails around the Buffalo National River and has yet to find a waterfall that wasn't her favorite.
Most of Arkansas’ world records come from natural wonders like our plethora of quartz crystals or surprisingly tall waterfalls; however, we do have one human-engineered record that the whole family can enjoy traversing. The world’s longest pedestrian bridge can be found right here in Arkansas. Let’s put on our good walking shoes and tackle this lengthy river trail.
The Big Dam Bridge certainly lives up to its name.
It's the world's longest bridge for pedestrian and bicycle use at 4,226 feet. You can begin either at 7600 Rebsamen Park Rd., Little Rock, AR 72207 or at 4000 Cooks Landing Rd., North Little Rock, AR 72118.
The dam bridge crosses the Arkansas River from Little Rock to North Little Rock.
Bring the family for a leisure ride or test your endurance during The Big Dam Bridge 100 in September. The fundraiser race also happens to be the longest cycling tour in the state.
Besides viewing the dam bridge from the shore, you can also take part in the Big Dam Bridge Full Moon Walk in the fall. Be sure to follow their Facebook Page to know when this year's event will be announced.
To learn more about the upcoming Big Dam Bridge events, you can follow their Facebook Page. Fun fact, they sell Big Dam t-shirts to raise money for the bridge. Have you been wowed by the Big Dam Bridge? Share with us in the comments below!
