EDITOR’S NOTE: It’s unclear if this virtual tour is still being offered. We recommend taking a look at this piece about Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas instead.
If you’re a fan of archaeology and are unable to travel, we suggest checking out Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas by taking their Historic Bathhouse Tour. This virtual visit is a great way to get up close and personal while staying in the comfort of your own home. The Midwest Archeological Center, the National Park Service, and the Southeast Archeological Center created this unique tour to share Bathhouse Row’s history with those unable to see this archaeological sight in real life. So, what are you waiting for? Read on if you’re ready to know more about what you’ll explore on this unique panoramic tour.
If you can't make it to Arkansas at the moment and tour Hot Springs right this second, then take a virtual visit instead!
Thanks to the Midwest Archeological Center, National Park Service, and the Southeast Archeological Center the Bathhouses of Hot Springs National Park can be toured online. Take the online scroll right here. The website needs to be opened in Internet Explorer.
The tour is more than a couple of clicks through Google Maps.
The tour pinpoints ten points of interest along Bathhouse Row (the bathhouses of course and the NPS Administration Office). Each portion includes interesting history about the bathhouse and the early settlement of the town. For instance did you know that the Fordyce Bathhouse is the largest one on the row? It had a variety of services beyond a typical spa day including a music room featuring a grand piano!
After reading through the interesting historical tidbits for the bathhouse, each virtual stop also includes a link to the NPS's guided tour. Here you can discover podcasts, interviews, historic pictures, and more!

We may not be able to instantaneously tour downtown Hot Springs but this virtual tour is a wonderful way to still explore "America's Spa."
Skip the crowds and enjoy a personal tour of the Row with this interesting online tour!
Are you excited to visit Hot Springs in person later this year? We are too! Stay at this luxurious tree-top escape, watch live glass-blowing, or just snack on some pizza during your next excursion.
