Creating the ultimate Arkansas trail bucket list is nearly a lifelong endeavor in itself. Today’s trail is as informative as it is scenic and should not be skipped during your next trip to central Arkansas. This family friendly hike is a great way to learn about Arkansas’ diverse flora. Let’s see how many different regions this one trail can represent.
There's no doubt that the trails at Pinnacle Mountain State Park are a hiker's dream, after all this is one of the most iconic state parks in Arkansas.
Besides the wide variety of activities throughout the park, the area also houses the Arkansas Arboretum. The sprawling 80-acre site is a large preservation effort devoted to Arkansas' flora.
The featured trail in the arboretum is the Arkansas Trail. This trail is unfortunately an overlooked hike at the state park. It may not have quite the pizzazz of the summit trails but it's well worth the jaunt.
Walk through flora representing the Ozark Plateau region; the Arkansas River Valley; the Ouachita Mountains; the Gulf Coastal Plain; the Mississippi Alluvial Plain; as well as Crowley's Ridge.
Besides having guided tours, the trail also has interpretive signs with recorded messages for thoroughly educational experience.
No matter if you're a veteran of the East Summit Trail or taking your family to their first state park visit, this little hike needs to be explored by everyone at least once.
