Though Sam’s Throne Recreation Area is most known as a rock climbing site, it’s also a top spot for hiking, photography, and camping. No list of Arkansas adventures would be complete without a mention of Hemmed-in-Hollow Falls. At nearly 210 feet, it’s not only the tallest waterfall in Arkansas, but it’s also tallest waterfall between The Rockies and Appalachians. A 5-mile out-and-back trail leads to the stunning cascade. Rated as hard, the trail isn’t for everybody, and that’s okay because it’s not the only way to access Hemmed-in-Hollow Falls. The waterfall can also be reached by floating the upper Buffalo River. Located within the the Ozark National Forest, this scenic area is practically overflowing with natural beauty, including huge rock formations and two waterfalls – one of which is at least 60 feet tall.
