There’s no doubt that great steaks can be found in Arkansas but don’t feel like Doe’s Eat Place is the only place to visit. Some of the best cuts of meat are located in the state’s smaller towns and are absolutely worth the drive. Let’s have a bite at seven of these small town steakhouses.
1. Jerry's Steakhouse - Trumann
It's odd how small towns have perfected a delicious cut of meat and Jerry's is just one more piece of yummy evidence to support this notion. Jerry Pillow began creating his signature flavored steaks in a repurposed backyard grill in 1981 and the steakhouse has been evolving ever since. Second generation owners, Tracy and Kellie, expanded the steakhouse, added a lunch menu, and upgraded the kitchen. Pay a visit at 424 AR-463, Trumann, AR 72472 and read our full article
right here for more information.
2. Don's Steakhouse - Walnut Ridge
Don's Steakhouse is perfect if you're wanting a no-frills, homecooked meal. The steakhouse has two locations, one in Walnut Ridge and the other in Pocahontas. In addition to filling steaks, Don's also has an all-you-can-eat buffet. Have a taste at 1602 W Main St., Walnut Ridge, AR 72476 or 1511 Market Dr, Pocahontas, AR 72455.
3. Chopping Block Steakhouse - Mena
Beautiful photography and photo-worthy steaks come together at the Chopping Block Steakhouse. This delicious eatery began as a humble butcher shop over fifty years ago. The butcher's and deli was originally ran by James and Pat Bates. The little shop evolved into the beloved Chopping Block Steakhouse in 1989. Today the restaurant is owned by the Bates' daughter Sherri and her husband, William Rainey. You may be familiar with Rainey's stunning nature photography; in fact, his work is frequently featured on our Facebook Page! This steakhouse is located at 1156 US-71, Mena, AR 71953. 4. Callahan's Steakhouse - Siloam Springs
The best steaks on the west side of the state can be found at Callahan's. The mesquite-grilled steaks take up a whole plate and will absolutely take away your hunger. Their signature porterhouse has been a local favorite for nearly 30 years! They're located at 210 US-412, Siloam Springs, AR 72761. For more information, visit their
website .
5. Taylor's Steakhouse - Dumas
This tiny-town steakhouse has perfected the dry-aged steak. Taylor's dry-aging can take up to 120 days. The moisture lost during the process concentrates the flavor and significantly improves the meat's ability to hold onto seasonings while it's being broiled. After this process, you're left with an unbelievably tender steak. Have a bite of this uniquely prepared steak at 14201 AR-54, Dumas, AR 71639. For more information about Taylor's, read our
full article .
6. Rock's Place Steakhouse - Fordyce
Editor's note: Unfortunately, this restaurant has closed. The building that holds Rock's Place was established way back in 1906. You can see memorabilia from this era while savoring a mouthing watering ribeye, which makes for quite a delicious history lesson. In addition to unbelievably tasty steaks, frog legs and quail also don the menu. Enjoy a great meal at 302 N Main St., Fordyce, AR 71742. For more information, follow their
Facebook Page .
7. Gaskins Cabin - Eureka Springs
This beautiful cabin in the woods happens to be one of the most delicious steakhouses in the state. Gaskins Cabin was originally built in 1864 but became a restaurant in 2008. Most folks come for the prime rib but really anything off the menu is going to be deliciously dazzling. Gaskins is north of Eureka Springs at 2883 AR-23, Eureka Springs, AR 72631.
