Arizona certainly isn’t the first state that comes to mind when you think of sledding and snowman building. And it’s true that snow is hard to come by in the Grand Canyon State but this winter park is worth checking out. Find some warm clothes and some gloves and get out there!
The Wing Mountain Snow Play Area is located at Nordic Village near Flagstaff in the Coconino National Forest.
The thing about sledding is that it's great for the whole family. You don't need any real skill or experience. Just hop on a plastic sled and push yourself off from the top of the hill. The rest happens naturally.
If your kids are growing up in Arizona, they don't often get a chance to build a snowman. Bring a few accessories and build away. (And don't forget your camera!)
Before you visit, call the park at (928) 814-8180 to make sure there’s enough snow. The park is open Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Up to five people can sled for just $20. For more information, visit the park’s website.
