Outside of work, you can likely find her curled up on with a hot cup of coffee, practicing yoga, baking, or exploring the beautiful Lone Star State (in particular, the vast and mystical West Texas desert).
Have you ever eaten rattlesnake before? How about cactus fries? Or a nine-layer chocolate cake? You can try all of that and more a Rustler’s Rooste, one of the most unique restaurants in Arizona. Not only are some of the menu items wacky as can be, but the atmosphere is also just as quirky!
Since 1971, Rustler's Rooste has been Phoenix's go-to spot for rustic steakhouse fare and breathtaking sunset views.
The restaurant is perched on top of a butte in the foothills of South Mountain, with a spacious outdoor patio where every seat is the best one in the house.
If you prefer dining indoors, the experience is equally as memorable. It feels like you're walking into a saloon - albeit with a few quirky additions. You can actually slide into the dining room! (A staircase is also available.)
Grab a seat next to the waterfall, or perhaps right in front of the stage. Live country western music is played nightly, and it's a rootin' tootin' good time for all.
Believe it or not, the wackiness of the atmosphere doesn't even come close to that of the menu. The most popular item is deep-fried rattlesnake - locals say it tastes just like chicken!
Dessert brings back the unbelievability, with the most famous treat being the nine-layer chocolate cake. Yes, this is one serving! It's as delicious as it is decadent, so try to save room.
On your way out, make sure to stop and say hi to the resident rattlesnake! You can also pick up a T-shirt that says "I Ate the Rattlesnake" in the gift shop.
