The words “BBQ” and “Arizona” aren’t often used in the same sentence, but Little Miss BBQ in Phoenix is on a mission to change that. Serving up some of the best BBQ in Arizona, this unassuming joint dishes out slow-smoked, Central Texas-style ‘cue that will take your taste buds on a trip to the Lone Star State without ever leaving the Valley. Pro-tip: save room for a piece of smoked pecan pie!
If you aren't a Phoenix native, you might be inclined to drive right past Little Miss BBQ without stopping - but locals will tell you they won't eat BBQ from anywhere else.
With Sunnyslope and University locations (and a Midtown restaurant in the works), this legendary spot dishes out the best Central Texas-style BBQ you'll find in Arizona. There's a reason it has such a cult following!
Outdoors, a quaint, open-air patio is ideal during the cooler months. The picnic tables, which are found at many Central Texas BBQ joints, add an extra flair of authenticity to the experience.
Before you even step inside the building, one look at how much wood the restaurant has in storage tells you all you need to know. We weren't kidding when we said this place is popular!
When it comes to good BBQ, the sides matter just as much as the meat, and we're pleased to say that Little Miss BBQ delivers on both fronts. Their ranch-style beans, jalapeno cheddar grits, potato salad, and coleslaw are all to die for.
Don't forget about the sauce! Now, don't get us wrong - the meat is plenty good on its own - but the restaurant's signature sauces take it to the next level.
For sandwiches, your options are sliced or chopped brisket, pulled pork, or turkey. For an extra $2, you can add sliced sausage, slaw, and pickles to give it a little extra oomph! All sandwiches come with one side.
If you're feeding a crowd, go with the Yager Dager. This package serves 5-8 and includes two pounds of brisket, a pound of pork, half a pound of turkey, two sausages, and your choice of three sides (pint-sized.)
If you have any room left at all, you must try their world-famous smoked pecan pie (on the right). It's one of the best desserts you'll ever eat - trust us.
