Boyce Thompson Arboretum is among the most enchanting destinations in the state, with a meandering path leading through a tree tunnel that looks like something straight out of a children’s storybook. Arizona's oldest and largest botanical garden, Boyce Thompson Arboretum is a lush oasis in the desert lowlands.
Spanning over 340 acres, the arboretum boasts a variety of themed gardens featuring just under 4,000 species of plants, plus nearly five miles of scenic trails. It's a nature lover's paradise!
There's always something in bloom, so no matter what time of year you visit, rest assured Mother Nature will be at her very best for that particular season.
In the spring, colorful wildflowers rear their heads, while the cacti produce vibrant blooms during summer. Some of the brightest, boldest, and most beautiful fall foliage in the state can be found here, and you just might get lucky enough to see a dusting of snow on the ground in the winter.

Your garden adventures will more than likely lead you to this whimsical tree tunnel that looks like it was plucked straight out of a children's storybook.
As you marvel at the abundant flora and fauna all around, you'll half expect to see a troll come bounding out of the woods or feel the air whip around you as pixies flutter by.
Don't forget to bring a camera - the tunnel almost serves as a picture frame, making it the perfect place for a photo-op!
At just about every turn, you'll see trees dangling over walkways, the woodland terrain almost forming a canopy overhead.
Summer hours (May through September) are Monday & Wednesday-Sunday from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. (closed Tuesday). Winter hours (October through April) are 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily. General admission is $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12, and no cost for arboretum members and frontline COVID-19 workers.
