Bagdad, Arizona: an all but forgotten rural mining town with just over 2,000 residents. Unbeknownst to many, this speck on the map that primarily serves as a thoroughfare for weary travelers is also home to some amazing restaurants. These two charming diners are definitely worth a stop on your journey through our state’s vast ranch lands.
The Diner on Main can only be described as a blast from the past. Pulling up to the black and white checkered building with a chrome roof with a parking lot full of motorcycles will take you half a century back in time.
Inside is no different. Red vinyl booths and 50s memorabilia coupled with friendly waitstaff deliver a hefty dose of nostalgia. This is where locals come to catch up and share stories over a good, hearty meal.
As is customary with old-fashioned American diners, portions are more than sufficient. Juicy burgers and fries taste like the happiness and love that went into them.
Copper Country Bar & Grill is Bagdad's only other dining option. It offers a much less dated atmosphere than The Diner on Main while still maintaining plenty of small-town charm.
After night falls, the ambiance becomes upbeat and lively without getting too rowdy. It's a perfect place for families to stop and enjoy a good meal on the road.
The extensive menu at Copper Country has everything from sizzling fajitas and steak to pizza and burgers. The wide variety of options makes every visit different than the last, and all the dishes are absolutely delicious.
You'll find Copper Country Bar & Grill at 901 N Lindahl, Bagdad, AZ 86321. The restaurant is open on Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., on Friday & Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information about Copper Country Bar & Grill, visit its website here.
