I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
Don’t you love exploring small towns and finding unexpected gems, especially a restaurant that offers some stellar cuisine? That’s how I feel! On a recent visit to Pine, I discovered THAT Brewery & Pub. While this place is known for its beer, it also has a menu filled of delicious food. This may be the best small-town restaurant in Arizona and I urge you to stop by for a drink and a meal when you’re in Pine.
If you've never been to Pine, I urge you to go. There's so much natural beauty around here like Tonto Natural Bridge and the Mogollon Rim, as well as countless hiking trails. And when you're here and hunger strikes, THAT Brewery & Pub is an excellent place for a drink and a delicious meal.
THAT Brewery & Pub is for its tasty local brews and has several on tap including its flagship Arizona Trail Ale and a hard seltzer. There are numerous brews to choose and beer connoisseurs will be happy with the selection.
Just as good as the beer is the food options. You can start out with wings as an appetizer. The wings are smoked and char-grilled and can be served mild or hot with a side of ranch or bleu cheese dressing.
There's also a variety of salads to choose from. I had the smoked pulled chicken salad with ranch and it was so good! If you're not in the mood for a salad, you should give the award-winning elk chili a try.
The burgers here are made with high-quality ground beef and served on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pickles. You'll also have the option of adding cheddar, Swiss, or THAT beer cheese. Yum!
Gluten free, veggie, and chicken options are also available.
If you love a good sandwich, the ultimate bacon grilled cheese may be the one for you. Between two slices of thick Texas toast are cheddar, Swiss, and THAT beer cheese topped with applewood smoked bacon and green chilis.
This place also does BBQ so you may want to try the smoked brisket sandwich or smoked pulled chicken sandwich.
While you can sit indoors, THAT Brewery & Pub also has a big covered patio and sometimes has live music. Great beer, delicious food, and live music...what could be better?
THAT Brewery & Pub is open from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday through Tuesday and closed on Wednesday and Thursday.
