There are plenty of Arizona mountain towns brimming with charm, but Heber-Overgaard is definitely among the most underrated. Nestled up in beautiful Rim Country, this tiny town is little more than a blip on the map – yet it’s packed with things to do. From historic museums to beautiful nature to Wild West-inspired restaurants and hotels, Heber-Overgaard belongs on your Arizona bucket list.
Located in scenic Rim Country, Heber-Overgaard is one of Arizona's most charming mountain towns. Home to fewer than 2,500 people, the town offers a slow-paced lifestyle that's the perfect contrast to the always-on-the-go nature of modern society.
The town is situated in the beautiful Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest and is most commonly accessed via State Route 260. You'll know you've arrived when the trees give way to quaint shops and restaurants that seem frozen in time!
If you're a nature lover, this is the town for you. Tall Timbers County Park is a hidden gem destination with a small fishing lake and several trails that wind through the woods and along the water.
History buffs, rejoice! The Rock House Museum lets visitors experience what life was like in Heber-Overgaard in the mid-1900s, and it's a must-visit when in town.
Inside, you'll see a number of interesting exhibits (both interactive and stationary) and have the unique opportunity to listen to an audio tour of stories told by the family that once lived in the house.
