Most small towns have one main diner where all the locals go to catch up over a hot meal, and in Chino Valley, Arizona, that diner is Skillets Cafe. Despite the town having a population of less than 12,000, the line at this unassuming restaurant is always out the door. All it takes is one bite of the hearty, home-cooked food to understand why!
Nestled along Highway 89, Skillets Cafe has been serving the small town of Chino Valley for years.
There's hardly any décor to be seen on the walls, but the plainness is more than made up for by the fast, friendly service that always comes with an ear-to-ear grin.

As you slide into a booth and take a gander at the menu, you'll have quite a delicious dilemma on your hands.
If you have a sweet tooth, you'll probably want to go with either the French toast, buttermilk hotcakes, or waffles. Topped with fresh fruit, real maple syrup, and several generous squirts of whipped cream, these dessert-for-breakfast delicacies will have you wishing you wore stretchy pants.
Other crowd favorite dishes include omelets, breakfast burritos, and various meat and egg combos. If you're really hungry, the bone-in ham gets rave reviews - it's so big, it almost falls off the plate!
In keeping with the name of the restaurant, many of their best dishes are served in piping hot, cast iron skillets.
Some of these offerings include the Meat Lovers Skillet, which has ham, bacon, sausage, and cheddar cheese, the Spicy Skillet, which features chorizo, pepper jack, and jalapenos, the Chicken-Fried Steak Skillet, and the Veggie Skillet.
Stopping by for an afternoon bite? While the restaurant is known for breakfast, its lunch menu is just as extensive, featuring everything from burgers to sandwiches to crispy, golden-fried fish baskets.
You'll see a dozen different kinds of burgers alone, with toppings like chili cheese, bacon, and grilled-to-perfection onions. All burgers and sandwiches come with a side, and the choices include fries, onion rings, soup, chili, cottage cheese, potato salad, coleslaw, and fruit.
