I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
As someone who has traveled the world, when home in Arizona, I often crave international cuisine. After finding Hodori with its exceptional Korean food, I find myself dreaming about japchae, bulgogi, and some of the other menu offerings here. Set in a plaza on Dobson Road in Mesa, Hodori is an unassuming restaurant in Arizona with some of the best food around.
Good food can be found just about anywhere, but great food is sometimes a little harder to find. Set in an unassuming plaza on Dobson Road in Mesa is one of the best places for international cuisine in Maricopa County.
Keep in mind that Hodori gets incredibly busy on the weekends, so plan accordingly. You may have to wait for a table when you get here.

When you sit down for a meal here, your server will bring a variety of small side dishes like kimchi to the table. It's a great way to start the experience because dining at Hodori is certainly an experience!
The menu has such an amazing selection of traditional Korean dishes. You may be tempted to order them all. But, if this is your first time trying Korean food, you may want to try a hot pot, a type of soup.
You can order your hot pot mild or spicy -- it's up to you!
The kimchi bokum bap (or kimchi fried rice) is delicious. Mixed with ribeye beef and topped with a fried egg, it's a fantastic dish to share with the table.
My personal favorite dish here happens to be the Japchae. With its stir-fried glass noodles, bits of veggies, and meat, you'll see why it's one of the most popular dishes here.
