Newest Arizona State Park: Rockin' River Ranch State Park

Did you know that Arizona has a brand-new state park? It’s true! Rockin’ River Ranch State Park was first opened and dedicated this February, and it’s a place you may want to explore before it gets too popular. Located along the Verde River in Camp Verde, this 209-acre park is ready for you to visit. Here’s what you can expect so you can plan your trip here:

Rockin' River Ranch State Park joined the Arizona State Parks system in February 2024. A welcome addition, this state park is 209 acres adjoining the Coconino and Prescott National Forests.

The land was once a privately owned guest ranch that offered horseback riding and boarding facilities. The trails on the property were primarily used for trail rides.

Now a state park, you can find it at the confluence of the Verde River and West Clear Creek. Its land is found on both sides of the Verde River as well.

Rockin' River Ranch State Park is a peaceful place to take a hike, enjoy the scenery, and view wildlife. Among the wildlife you may see here are a variety of birds, deer, otters, and javelinas.

Along the banks of the river are mesquite, cottonwood, and sycamore trees.

You can also take a canoe or kayak out on the river and go fishing.

Rockin' River Ranch State Park is a day-use park and is open Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. A fee of $7 per vehicle is charged to enter the park.
