Starship Technologies, founded in 2014 by Skype co-founders Janus Friis and Ahti Heinla, is a company developing small, self-driving robots that serve as delivery vehicles.

Electronic-powered, the robots ride on sidewalks at a pedestrian speed of approximately 3.7 miles per hour.
Using feature detection and mapping techniques, the autonomous vehicles are able to forge a path to their destination without assistance.

They will only be used for short-range local delivery, and can be remote controlled in the event of a malfunction.
This revolutionary method of food delivery has been a godsend for several Tempe restaurants during these times of social distancing.
