River Island State Park is a tiny oasis on the California border. And you may love the solitude in this tiny state park that has its own sandy little beach and boat ramp on the Colorado River. Both are located in a cove on the river, keeping the nearby activity on the water at bay.
The perfect location also lends itself (and you) to having easy access to the Colorado for some aqua exploration or fun exercise.
From River Island State Park you can swim, fish, boat and just enjoy some quiet time in the sun while cooling down in the waters of the Colorado River.

River Island developed as a bit of an offshoot of nearby Buckskin Mountain State Park.
While Buckskin Mountain is located in the bend of the Colorado River, giving it water access on three sides of the park, River Island's access is essentially limited to the little cove inlet on the river. In a sense, it makes the park all the more secluded. Tent sites on the grass adjacent to the beach have front-row seating for some of the best views of the Colorado from any campground.
Some sites have water, most have power of some sort; and all have incredible views of the surrounding mountains. Another advantage of getting out of the city? You just can't see the night sky quite like this in Arizona's more populated places.
River Island State Park is located at 5200 AZ-95, Parker, AZ 85344. The park is open 365 days a year. Entry fees are $10.00 per vehicle for 1-4 people. Individuals arriving on bikes are $3.00.
