As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. There are plenty of resort hotels in Arizona where you can escape all your worries, but most are located in major cities. The Francisco Grande Hotel & Golf Resort, however, is not. Five miles from Casa Grande, this historic hotel is virtually in the middle of nowhere. It’s the perfect place to get away from it all and freshen your perspective! We think you’ll agree that it’s one of the best hotels in Arizona.
The Francisco Grande Hotel & Golf Resort was built in 1961 by Horace Stoneham, the former owner of the San Francisco Giants. It originally served as a pre-season training camp for the team.
It didn't only house players, though. Fans - many of whom were rich and famous - came from far and wide to watch the action! Consequently, Stoneham made sure the resort had all the bells and whistles.
With architecture reminiscent of Las Vegas in the 1960s, the high-rise hotel was recently restored to its former glory.
The balconies even include a table and chairs! You can watch the sunrise over the towering peaks while sipping your morning coffee.
The hotel has two on-site restaurants. Duke's is a relaxed cocktail lounge, and Legends, the main dining room, offers Southwestern cuisine in an upscale setting.
Fun fact: Duke's is named after John Wayne, who was one of the resort's most frequent celebrity guests. (For those unaware, "The Duke" was his nickname.)
Both restaurants have indoor and outdoor seating, so you can enjoy your meal on the patio if it's a nice day.
The course is among the longest in Arizona, and it's adjustable to suit all skill levels.
For more information, including rates and availability, be sure to check out the official Francisco Grande website.
