I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
Ready to experience winter in Arizona? While thousands of snowbirds flock to the state each winter to experience a warmer climate and escape the cold of Canada or the Midwest, there are those of us living here year-round who want nothing more than to experience snow. And then there are the winter sports like skiing and snowboarding that take us to the mountains of Northern Arizona. While Snowbowl in Flagstaff is an ultra-popular spot, there’s another winter travel destination in Arizona you may want to try this season. Offering skiing and snowboarding plus other activities like snow tubing and ski biking (yes, that’s a thing), Sunrise Park Resort may become your favorite winter getaway.
Located in the White Mountains in Greer, Sunrise Park Resort is the ultimate winter destination in Arizona.
If you're here for downhill skiing, cross-county skiing, or snowboarding, Sunrise Park offers the most trails of any ski resort in the state. The trails range from beginner to expert.
If you don't know what a ski bike is, it's essentially skis with a bike-like frame attached and they can be used by beginners or experts. However, a safety certification must be obtained by new ski bikers at Sunrise in order to use one.
If you don't have your own skis or a snowboard, you can rent one at the base of the mountain. Boots and poles can also be rented if you need them.
There aren't too many places in Arizona where you can go snow tubing, but you certainly can here at Sunrise Park Resort. With several tubing lanes, just take the lift up the hill and enjoy the thrilling ride back down!
Have you ever gone skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, or ski biking at Sunrise Park Resort in Greer? What is a favorite winter travel destination in Arizona of yours? Let us know!
