Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
Alright, let’s get one thing straight here: Arizona is typically not thought of as a winter wonderland. Sure, we have beautiful winter towns in Arizona that shine at this time of year, like Prescott, but did you know there’s one little place in southern Arizona that can take you back in time? It’s not Tucson – it’s Old Tucson, and every year, the cast and crew here make an amazing effort to recreate an old-fashioned Christmas from the wild, wild west. Tucson is one of my favorite cities in the Copper State, and Old Tucson is a blast and a half. Check it out!
Old Tucson has long been a fun tradition for Arizona families.
Come explore the town as you're greeted by townsfolk all in character and costume. You'll run into various carolers and other well-wishers while surrounded by decor reminiscent of an old west holiday.
The Yuletide experience is so immersive that you might forget you're in Arizona during present-day. You and your family will be transported back to a time long passed, and it's a fun memory all of you will cherish for life.
There are shows, delightful decor, amazing actors, holiday activities, and so much more to look forward to.
This year's festivities take place on certain nights from November 14th, 2023 through December 24th, 2023, from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Tickets are cheaper if you get them online ahead of time, so check out the official Yuletide at Old Tucson website to get yours ASAP.
Yuletide is such a wonderful time that I'm pretty sure you're going to want to turn it into an annual tradition.
I don't blame you; I think I'll be doing the same.
Old Tucson is a wonderful time no matter when you show up, but the holidays have a unique charm to them that I can’t get enough of. So, sure, a “white Christmas” might be up in the air (or not happening at all, depending on where you’re at), but you can still enjoy the holiday season in amazingly traditional ways even in the desert Southwest.
For more information check out the official Old Tucson website. If you need somewhere to stay while in Tucson, our friends at VRBO offer up all sorts of awesome, unique stays you’ll love, too. Winter in Arizona has never been so much fun!
