I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
Calling all ’80s and ’90s kids (and those who appreciate two of the most awesome decades in recent history)! There’s a new retro-themed restaurant that opened in Scottsdale and it’s a throwback to the ’80s and ’90s. If this sounds as amazing to you as it does to me, then make plans to visit JoJo’s ShakeBAR. Best of all, you can order yourself an over-the-top milkshake at this themed restaurant in Arizona!
If you grew up in the '80s and '90s like I did, you'll appreciate a place like JoJo's ShakeBAR which just opened its doors at the Scottsdale Quarter in July 2023. With its retro vibes, the nostalgia is real here!
When you walk around JoJo's it seems like everywhere you look, including the ceiling, is something that will trigger a childhood memory. And I don't know about you but the ceiling here has me longing for my Atari gaming console!
Between murals of pop culture icons to the use of a retro color palette, movies and TV shows from a different era playing, and the music playlist, many of us will be longing to go back to simpler times.
After you've taken a trip down memory lane, you'll be hungry. Time to order! There are classics like burgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches, all served on a silver tray. Order a side of waffle fries to accompany your meal.
From the Supper portion of the menu, how about Pop's Pot Pie, Momma's Lasagna, or a Walking Taco? Served in a Frito's bag, the Walking Taco is made with veggie chili, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, Fritos, and sour cream. Sounds good to me!
One of the best parts of the menu at JoJo's ShakeBAR is, well, the shakes! You seriously can't come here and not get a shake. While there are basic shakes, why get basic when you can go BIG?
The Biggie Shakes are piled high with goodies and quite a few are named after old tv shows and films like the Wonder Years, Rocky IV, and Three's Company. These indulgent shakes are a meal in themselves.
One of the customer favorites is the Girl Scout made with Andes Mint Chocolates, toasted marshmallow, a chocolate pretzel, a chocolate-dipped s'more, and a double chocolate cookie. Oh, and did I mention that you can order your shake spiked as well?
Don't feel like having a shake and would prefer a cocktail instead? No problem! There are plenty of cocktails as creative as the milkshakes like the Cotton Candy Martini. This special martini is made with vanilla vodka, heavy cream, and coconut and topped with some colorful cotton candy.
Have you made your way to JoJo’s ShakeBAR to order an over-the-top milkshake yet? What’s another themed restaurant in Arizona you can’t get enough of? Let us know!
