If you love nature, you’ll adore the small Arizona town of Greer. With a population of around 50, it’s one of the very smallest towns in the state. Greer is tucked away in the beautiful White Mountains, at an elevation of over 8,000 feet. It’s completely surrounded by natural beauty, from the towering peaks to the lush greenery of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. With a ski park, horse stable, tons of hiking trails, and a mountain lodge, Greer is the ultimate town in Arizona for nature lovers.
Nestled in the heart of Arizona's scenic White Mountains, Greer is home to fewer than 50 permanent residents.
At an elevation of over 8,000 feet and surrounded by the lush greenery of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, the town is everything a nature lover could hope for.
Greer is best known for Sunrise Park Resort, a ski destination with the most runs and acreage in the state.
Native American owned and operated, the stables offer everything from 30-minute rides to overnight adventures. Rates start at $20 per person, and sleigh rides are offered in the winter.
Greer makes a great day trip, but if you have the time, we recommend staying at Greer Lodge Resort & Cabins for a night or two.
Wake up slowly as you sip your morning coffee in a rocking chair, watching elk and deer frolic in the meadow. Some of the rentals even have private trout ponds!

The lodge is open year-round, and every season is beautiful in its own way.
From eye-popping wildflowers to pearly white snow blanketing the ground, Mother Nature never stops showing off in Greer.
Have you ever been to Greer? If so, what’s your favorite nature activity to do in town? Tell us in the comments! Don’t forget to check out our previous article for another town in Arizona for nature lovers.
