Whether you drive or hike along the Rim, the views are a stark contrast to those found in the desert regions of the Grand Canyon State.

All along the plateau is a thick layer of fauna with varying hues of green that create a gorgeous and complementary contrast to the sky. Unlike in much of the desert areas, you're likely to encounter a number of big and small oases (catchments ponds) along the Rim.

The Mogollon Rim in Arizona is one of the greenest places in the state. If you’d like to visit and stay a while, some nearby cities and towns to the Rim are Payson, Show Low, Alpine, Sedona and Pinetop-Lakeside.

The Visitors Center is located on the south side of Highway 260, approximately 32 miles east of Payson and 27 miles west of Heber/Overgaard. It’s open primarily during the summer season.
