You don’t have to look hard to find great Mexican food in Arizona, but some of the very best restaurants take a little more effort to seek out. Mi Nidito, an unassuming, yet iconic Tucson eatery is one such place – although it’s a Southside legend, the building is so humble that you could drive right on past without knowing any better. That would be a grave mistake, however, as the food is so good, the likes of presidents and celebrities have dined here!
Established in 1952, Mi Nidito has become a Tucson legend over the years.
The restaurant may be small - although 35 seats have been added since it first opened - but the crowds certainly aren't. Don't be surprised if you encounter long wait times, especially at peak business hours.

The main thing that sets Mi Nidito apart from other similar eateries is its extensive list of famous guests.
Let's get to the food, shall we? A wide selection of appetizers helps start your meal off on the right foot, with delicious options like cheese tostadas and Mexican nachos.
This behemoth of a meal features a bean tostada, birria taco, chile relleño, chicken enchilada, and beef tamale. It's a little bit of everything, and your taste buds will appreciate the variety.
Other entrees include tacos, burros, chimichangas, enchiladas, several different combination platters, and so much more.
No matter what you're craving, you can rest assured this historic outpost has it on the menu. Oh, and don't forget to pair your meal with one of the restaurant's famous frozen margaritas!
