One of the best restaurants in Sedona is unassuming as can be, but that doesn’t deter locals one bit. If anything, the family-owned eatery’s humble appearance makes people love it even more – which could explain why there is often a line that extends out the door. Tamaliza dishes out authentic, home-cooked Mexican food that will warm your heart and soul, and after just one bite, you’ll understand what all the buzz is about.
Next time you find yourself in Sedona, do yourself a favor and stop by Tamaliza Cafe before leaving town.
Located along the gorgeous State Route 89A in the heart of Oak Creek Canyon, this unassuming, family-owned eatery dishes out some of the best Mexican food in Arizona.
The restaurant is small, so combine that with a high demand, and you get lines that often extend out the door - but locals are accustomed to this and don't mind the wait (and you won't either after trying the food.)
You'll likely need a few minutes to study the menu, which changes depending on what is currently in season. One thing, however, always remains the same: Tamaliza prides itself on using only the freshest ingredients, making everything from scratch without lard, without lard, artificial flavors, or GMOs.
If you're feeling indecisive, we recommend opting for tamales - they are the house specialty, after all. Get yours "Supremo" style with all sorts of yummy toppings, or nix the add-ons and keep it simple.
There are plenty of choices for vegan and vegetarian eaters, ranging from corn and poblano tamales to enchiladas or tacos with oyster mushrooms in adobo sauce.
Let's not forget about the breathtaking red rock views from the restaurant - they're almost as unforgettable as the food itself! Definitely try to snag a window seat if you can.
