I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
There’s no doubt that there are countless scenic places around Arizona. After all, it’s home to the Grand Canyon, one of the most famous and iconic natural wonders in the entire world! The state is filled with so many recognizable locales that it’s impossible to fit them all into one trip. So, we’ve handpicked a few places in the northern part of the state that you can visit over the course of a weekend or a few days. Here is a road trip to some of the most iconic views in Arizona:
No matter how many times I've visited Sedona I'm still blown away by its gorgeous landscape filled with red rock formations. Take a scenic drive on either Schnebly Hill Road or SR-89A for some of the best views. Your jaw will drop with every turn!
The Grand Canyon may be our state's most popular tourist attraction but there are plenty of reasons why people from all over come for a visit. This bucket list-worthy destination is one we must all spend time at during our lives. The views are immense and otherworldly, the hiking is outstanding, and we just can't get enough!
This famous bend in the Colorado River has become a dream destination for photos, especially for social media. A fairly easy hike will get you to the extraordinary views of Horseshoe Bend. This is an easy enough hike for kids to do and you can find the trailhead by the parking lot.
Set along the Arizona-Utah border is the stunning blue waters of Lake Powell surrounded by an equally stunning landscape. Spend some time on the lakeshore or rent a boat to explore the lake on the water. Either way, I'm certain you'll be taking plenty of photos while you're here.
Another place with iconic views on the Arizona-Utah border, Oljato-Monument Valley is filled with buttes, a mesa, and red rocks. This landscape is absolutely jaw-dropping and worth the long drive to get here. Go for a hike or take a guided tour while you're here -- I highly recommend it!
