Arizona hosts several hot air balloon festivals throughout the year, and one of them is coming up in just over a month. Surprise Festival Days is a nearly weeklong celebration that features a carnival, live music, food, drinks, and — of course — dozens of luminous hot air balloons that cast an ethereal glow across the grounds.
One of the largest annual celebrations in the West Valley, Surprise Festival Days welcomes spring with nearly an entire week of family fun. Carnival rides and games, live entertainment, food, drinks, and so much more attract Arizonans from all corners of the state.
Hot air balloons will be on display for all to see, their variations in size, color, and design pulling your attention every which way. Parents and children are equally mesmerized, looking on with wide-eyed enthrallment as visions of soaring above the clouds dance in their imaginations.
Once night falls, the scene becomes even more magical. A dim glow illuminates the entire balloon field, lighting up the dark as people gather 'round to admire the spectacle.
Both traditional fair food and ethnic street cuisine bursting with flavor keep festival goers extremely well-fed. There will also be several beer and wine bars hosted by local businesses.
Local and national entertainment keep the energy high no matter what time of day it is. Sing and dance your heart out as afternoon fades to evening; melodic tunes reverberating across festival grounds.
In addition to concerts, performances like hooping impart a circus vibe that leaves onlookers of all ages in absolute awe. Other attractions include STEM activities for kids and handmade arts + crafts vendors.
