I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
In the 1890s, Jerome experienced a devastating fire that destroyed several buildings in this mining town. Taking the place of one of the destroyed structures, the Clinkscale building was constructed in the heart of town in 1899. While it’s had many purposes over more than a century, the building is now a luxury boutique hotel in Jerome, Arizona. For those of you who enjoy hotels with a history, you must spend a night at The Clinkscale Hotel.
Built in 1899 in place of a building destroyed by fire, the Clinkscale was a mercantile and department store that offered provisions to locals in town. Unsurprisingly in a notably haunted town like Jerome, the Clinkscale building experienced its fair share of paranormal activity.
Eventually, the Clinkscale was repurposed into the T.F. Miller Hardware Store and then several restaurants over time. The last thing it was before it was transformed into a hotel was the Mile High Inn & Grill.
In 2020, the building was purchased by Eric and Michelle Jurisin who renovated the property into a luxury boutique hotel complete with an excellent on-site restaurant and bar.

During the renovation process, elements of the building's history became a big part of the design. Each of the six guest rooms as well as the penthouse offers a mix of vintage-style fixtures and furnishings, exposed brick walls, and luxury.

If you don't mind a little ghostly activity with your stay, book a night at the Haunted Penthouse Suite. Featuring two bedrooms, a living room, a dining area, and a massive terrace with views, this 1,000-square-foot space is perfect for a family.
The hotel's Haunted Penthouse is located above The Haunted Hamburger on 410 Clark Street.
Whether or not you're spending the night at The Clinkscale Hotel, you must dine or at least have a cocktail at The Clinkscale Bar + Grill. Open daily for brunch, lunch, and dinner, this restaurant offers a creative menu and an elegant yet laid-back dining room.
Customers rave about the cuisine here, especially the homemade beignets for dessert! Top off your meal with dessert and a cocktail like the Arizona Mojito -- absolute perfection!
