Everyone In Arizona Needs To Experience This Epic Firefly Room

When it comes to fascinating roadside attractions, Arizona has plenty of them that all make for wonderful day trips. You might even remember us recently writing about the World’s Smallest Museum, which is right here in our state! But if you’ve already visited that particular destination, then don’t worry because we have another noteworthy museum that you need to check out.

Hiding in plain sight, the Phoenix Art Museum features a permanently installed work of art that you'll want to experience for yourself.

Created by renowned artist Yayoi Kusama, the installation is titled "You Who are Getting Obliterated in the Dancing Swarm of Fireflies".

Known by most as simply the firefly room, the 25-square foot piece of art is made up of mirrored walls and black granite flooring.

It's full of hundreds of twinkling LED lights that hang around the room - you'll feel like you've just somehow stepped into the darkest part of outer space.

The room was inspired by a Japanese folk tale about a person being in a field with 10,000 fireflies. It leaves your eyes wandering all around the room to take in the sights of the alternating colors of the lights.
