Next time you’re craving some time alone in nature, look no further than Goldwater Lake. One of the best lakes in Arizona, this secluded, tree-lined oasis is tucked away along Senator Highway near Prescott. Whether you want to boat, fish, or just spend a few hours staring at the ripples on the water’s surface, you’ll never regret coming out here.
Formed as a result of Bannon Creek being dammed, Goldwater Lake is tucked away just south of Prescott along the scenic, meandering Senator Highway.
Opportunities for fun abound, from canoeing and kayaking to fishing. Swimming isn't allowed on the lake, but you won't even miss it with everything else there is to do.
Leisurely cast your line from several fishing docks — or the shores — and wait for a bite. The lake is fully stocked with rainbow trout, so you won't be standing around for too long!
Other activities include a playground, sand volleyball court, and horseshoe pits. Visitors can also enjoy picnic tables, three large ramadas, and restroom facilities.
Don't leave your furry friends at home — dogs are welcome (and encouraged) at the lake! They'll surely have a blast running on the sand and splashing the day away.
So if you're in search of a tranquil escape, look no further than Goldwater Lake in Arizona. It's everything you need to feel refreshed and ready to take on life's challenges.
The lake has an entrance fee of $3 per vehicle, per day. Visit the City of Prescott website to learn more.
