There are certain places every American simply needs to see in their lifetime. Travel + Leisure recently made their list of the Best Views In America, and the spot they chose in Arizona will come as no surprise to anyone who has been there.
When you're making a list of the best views in the country (and the world), obviously, one of the first places that come to mind is in Arizona: The Grand Canyon.
More specifically, Travel + Leisure highlights Mather Point, an area that underwent extensive improvements from 2009 to 2012. This spot on the South Rim gives an incredible view of the majestic canyon, which stretches 227 miles, in some places up to 18 miles wide, and over a mile deep.
Parking was improved and expanded (nearly 900 spaces), the road to the visitor center was realigned, and improvements were made on the impressive viewing platform to make it more accessible for everyone.
They also added a new shuttle bus center, where visitors can catch a ride on the free shuttle tour of the park's most jaw-dropping views.
You can clearly see why Mather Point earned a place on the list. If you want to see the entire list for yourself, you can read the whole article here .
