Here are the top 9 cities in Arizona to retire in.
Considering Sun City West is a retirement community, it only makes sense for the town to top our list in terms of the senior population. 82% of residents are over the age of 55, catapulting the city into the top 25 places to retire nationwide. The tax burden is a mere 16%, and plenty of activities such as golf and several different clubs are offered.
Seniors make up 75% of the population in Green Valley, a top 40 retirement community in the U.S. Its tax burden is even lower than that of Sun City, at just 15.9%. There is one recreation center for every 1,000 residents, and Tucson is only half an hour away.

Just like its sister city that made the top spot, Sun City is also a designated retirement community near Phoenix. 74% of the population is seniors, and residents have access to amenities like sports, bowling, social clubs, and more.

Litchfield Park is another incredible place for those looking to settle down in the Phoenix suburbs. Where this city truly shines is its medical centers, with a staggering five per 1,000 residents. The tax burden is tied for third-lowest on the list, at 16.1%. Living here means you'll be close enough to the big city to take advantage of its activities without heaving to endure the daily hustle and bustle.

The town's immense natural beauty might have something to do with that, considering it's located right in the middle of Coconino National Forest. It clocks in about average in regards to healthcare, with four medical centers per every 1,000 people.

Scottsdale may be known for its close proximity to casinos, but surprisingly enough, almost 30% of its population is seniors. It has a tax burden of 17.6% and nearly five hospitals for every 1,000 residents, so the town comes in around the middle of the pack.
