I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
For those of you who love the outdoors, Arizona is home to over 30 state parks. And if you love camping, there are over 1,500 campsites within the state park system. Some of these campsites offer some of the best camping in Arizona. One state park that offers waterfront camping is Alamo Lake State Park. It may be the best campground near Wenden, Arizona.
Alamo Lake State Park is a bit of a hidden gem. Not as well-known or visited as, say, Lost Dutchman State Park or Catalina State Park, you'll want to visit if you enjoy having some solitude.
This state park is home to Alamo Lake where visitors can go swimming, fishing, or boating. Another wonderful activity here is camping. And yes, there are waterfront campsites you can reserve!
The campground consists of six loops. You can choose a basic, a pull-through, or a back-in site. There are also full hook-up sites and others with water and electric only.
Camping loops D and E is for dry camping, and each site has a picnic table and a fire ring. As for amenities at the campgrounds, there are vault toilets.
For those who prefer the comfort of a furnished cabin with amenities like A/C and heating, four cabins, one of which is ADA accessible, are available to rent.
