I'm an east coast girl living in a west coast world. I grew up in New England before moving to SoCal for several years. I then lived in NYC or a year before moving to AZ in 2009. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years of my adult life and have a deep love for photography, writing, and traveling around the U.S. as well as to far-flung locations around the world. Travel is my life and writing about it is a dream!
The Grand Canyon State is ripe with adventure, isn’t it? There always seems to be a place to explore, a new attraction to check out, or a natural wonder to visit. If you love exploring the state’s great outdoors as much as I do, you may want to go camping at one of the best campgrounds in Arizona. And the Lees Ferry Campground happens to be one of the best places for year-round camping in Arizona.
Covering over 1.25 million acres from Lees Ferry in Arizona to Southern Utah, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area offers endless outdoor recreation including camping.
Within Glen Canyon, there's only one campground situated along the Colorado River. Lees Ferry Campground in Marble Canyon is one of the best places to camp in the area, especially for those who prefer a riverside campsite.
This campground has 54 sites with very few amenities. While both tent and RV camping are welcome here, there are no hook-ups. However, there is an RV dump station on-site.
While open fires are not allowed, there are grills available for you to use. Lees Ferry Campground also has a modern bathroom as well as potable water.
While the amenities here are sparse, being so close to the Colorado River makes camping here oh-so-popular! It's easy to see why with scenery like this.
No reservations are taken at Lees Ferry Campground -- it's first come, first served. Each campsite costs only $20 per night, making it quite an affordable camping option within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
If you’re looking for a campground that offers year-round camping in Arizona, there’s no better destination than the Lees Ferry Campground in Marble Canyon. To learn more, visit the National Park Service website.
