No matter where in Arizona you live, you’re bound to experience hot days at some point during the summer. Don’t let that temperature get you down! Instead of spending your day cooped up in the house, here are some things you can do in the state to make the most of a hot day.

1. Escape to a cooler climate, like Flagstaff or Payson, for a day.

It hit a sweltering 80℉ in Flagstaff over the weekend, which was definitely cooler than Winslow, Kingman, or Page. So maybe spending some time among the pines and aspen would be a nice relief from the much hotter temperatures around the rest of the state.
2. Get a cold snack.

There’s so many options: ice cream, boba tea, frappe, raspados, Slush Puppies, Eegees, and Hawaiian shaved ice. Just try not to get a brain freeze.
3. Go to the movies.

If the newest releases don't appear entertaining enough, try one of the classic movie nights at your local theater, like the FilmBar in downtown Phoenix.
4. Take a dip in a local public swimming pool or swimming hole, like this one at Hermit Creek.

7. Or you can check out one of our state’s caves for a cool retreat from the heat.

Colossal Cave near Vail maintains a steady 70 degrees year round, while you will definitely need a coat to walk the 40-degree Lava River Cave near Flagstaff.
8. Eat a spicy meal, which induces sweating and forces you to drink more liquid.

Mexican food is an obvious option but try out Thai, Indian, or even Ethiopian food. Don’t let them skimp on the chilis!
