Arizona may not be well-known for its lakes but those we do have are large, pretty, and the perfect spot to spend a sunny afternoon. While places like Lake Powell and Lake Mead attract thousands upon thousands of visitors each year, others see significantly smaller crowds that are just as enthusiastic to visit. Today, we’re going to check out one lake that is everything you hope to find in a mountain retreat.
Knoll Lake is located in Coconino National Forest, along the Mogollon Rim. This lovely scenic lake is fed by a small spring and is the perfect location to spend a sunny afternoon.
One of the best parts about visiting this lake is that it’s hidden away from major roads, letting it feel like a secluded little paradise in the middle of the forest.
While you can expect the lake to be busy on weekends and holidays (especially in summer), Knoll Lake is a tranquil area outside of the usual travel season and the perfect spot for rest and relaxation.
What better place to find a bit of inner peace than on a kayak in the middle of a forest lake? Plus the lake is kept well-stocked with various kinds of trout.
Campsites are also nearby where you can feel hidden away in the trees and see an endless number of stars at night.
