If breakfast is the most important meal of the day, why not make it a rich, flavorful one? Push aside those gooey oats and dry toast; today we’re going to take a look at a few Arizona restaurants that serve amazing huevos rancheros!
This Mexican dish is pretty simple: corn tortillas topped with eggs and a spicy chile sauce served with rice and beans. However, some restaurants don’t quite get it right so we’re going to highlight places that serve one of the most flavorful breakfast dishes you’ll get to enjoy with a cup of coffee.
Please note, 5 Points Market & Restaurant and Bistro St. Michael are temporarily closed.
This little bistro sits in a quiet little area near downtown Tucson and they serve a flavorful dish of huevos rancheros loaded with sauce and avocados. You’ll find whole pinto beans (instead of refried) sitting under the eggs here, letting you easily get a mouthful of flavor.
This restaurant sits inside the Hotel St. Michael and you’ll find a surprisingly tasty dish of huevos here! The cojita cheese and extra avocado gives this a fresh, lighter taste and you’ll find yourself wanting to lick the plate clean.
This little hole in the wall serves some delicious Mexican food and the huevos dish is one you need to try. Sauce, cheese, and a perfectly cooked egg, what more could you ask for?
This restaurant sits inside the Hotel Congress (hey, another hotel restaurant!) and one of their popular breakfast items includes the huevos rancheros. If you prefer less sauce on your dish, this is perfect, especially when coupled with a steaming cup of coffee or an icy mimosa.
Delicious and understated perfectly describes the food you’ll find at this local favorite, as well as their huevos dish. Ask for more sauce and choose your favorite potato to go with the meal.
If there’s anywhere to eat the breakfast of champions, it’s MartAnne’s. Arrive famished or wear your stretchy pants because the dishes here are huge and you won’t want to leave a morsel behind.
This little diner in Phoenix’s Melrose District has a surprising number of delicious Mexican dishes, including the huevos rancheros. The sauce is delightfully spicy and you’ll find yourself gobbling up everything on your plate.
The huevos rancheros at this Tucson establishment are really good, made even better with the killer sauce! You can also get this dish with green chile (the restaurant’s specialty) so be prepared for your mouth to be on fire.
This little family-owned restaurant is new to the Phoenix restaurant scene but has already started making a name for itself with its flavorful dishes, varied ingredients, and pleasant presentation. The huevos rancheros here keep the spice profile in check (perfect if you’re not too keen on spicy foods) but is still rich and savory.
This local favorite serves some great huevos rancheros that are so tasty we couldn’t find a picture of them! Instead, you see the chilaquiles above which are similar but not quite the same (imagine a fried egg and tortillas in place of the sunny side up eggs and chips). Either way, this is some deliciously hearty food you won’t forget!
