Finding remnants of the past isn’t a difficult feat in Arizona but places like general stores and trading posts still operating decades—or centuries—later is more of a challenge. Thankfully, there are some great examples of these stores still standing and some have even managed to keep the charm of their settler roots. Today, we’re going to check out one general store that is historic, charming, and one of the main hubs in this tiny town.
This is the Crown King General Store. It first opened in 1904 and has been serving the Crown King community ever since. Let’s take a quick look inside.
The general store plays quite a few roles in the community, simultaneously serving as a storefront, post office, gas station, and restaurant. You’ll get to see the old postal boxes sitting next to the window and framed pictures lining the walls.
And don’t forget to buy some of their housemade fudge! You’ll several varieties available daily and even seasonal options that are unlike anything you’ve ever tasted.
Enjoy the fudge, a slice of pizza, or other treats right outside under the cool shade. This is definitely what a weekend away from home should look like!
Crown King General Store is located at 1 Main Street in Crown King. You can find details about visiting on their Facebook page or their website, crownkingaz.com.
