Arizona is home to some captivating light displays during the holidays, some beloved traditions and some completely new experiences. Sometimes these places can get pricey, so let’s take a look at some of our favorite light displays and shows that can be experienced free of admission!
Taking place on December 9 at Tempe Town Lake, this delightful boat parade showcases 50 boats all decked out in twinkling lights and Christmas decorations. The parade begins at dark and you’ll get to enjoy live music and fireworks during the event.
Bring on the Christmas cheer when you visit the London Bridge and its accompanying English village decked in thousands of glittering lights. See the lights until 10pm every night through January 1. If you’re lucky, you might also spot Santa on the weekends!

If you prefer to see pretty light displays that focus a little more on the origins of Christmas, then you’ll enjoy the lights, music, and nativity display at the Mesa LDS Temple. You can visit each night from 5pm to 10pm through December 31.

This time of year, most homes are decorated with twinkling lights but finding a neighborhood that goes all out is a unique find. The Winterhaven neighborhood in Tucson features house after house decorated in some astounding decorations, many taking on themes and showing off how intricate they can appear. Admission is free but the neighborhood does request making a food donation, such as cereal or canned soup.
For several decades, Chandler residents have highlighted the return of the holiday season with a massive tumbleweed Christmas tree. Standing around 30-feet tall, the tree is composed of locally sourced tumbleweeds coated in white paint, glitter, and thousands of twinkling lights.
The temperatures are getting cold in northern Arizona, so it’s definitely starting to feel a bit more like Christmas. Another way to get into the holiday mood? Checking out all the pretty lights at the Little America Hotel in Flagstaff! You’ll find a dazzling display of colorful lights covering the trees and shrubs on the hotel’s property.
Did you know Arizona has its very own Christmas town? Prescott won the designation years ago and ever since, it has proudly gone to town with impressive shows, festivities, and light displays in the Courthouse Square.
