Most people don’t realize that Arizona can be a little weird. I’m not talking about politics or local celebrities or any of that but some of the places that you can only find right here in our state. A lot of them happen to be located along Route 66, the road that is the mother of all things weirdly American. A lot of those finds are small attractions, usually just the little statue sitting on the side of the road but there is one 30-minute detour from the Mother Road that definitely brings a host of childhood memories with just three words: yabba dabba doo!
This is Bedrock City, located in Valle, Arizona, a small town sitting halfway between Williams and the Grand Canyon.
When the small park first opened, live actors played versions of different characters from the series, like Fred and Barney. However, that was a short-lived endeavor since the location was (and still is) pretty remote.
Now, about 44 years later, the park is still operating but it was listed for sale last year with a price tag of $2 million! So far, there hasn’t been any news of any impending deals but, for now, you can still visit the park to get a unique Modern Stone Age family experience.
The Flintstones Bedrock City is located at the junction of State Route 64 and Highway 180 near Valle. Information about hours, tours, camping, and other amenities can be found on the attraction’s website, bedrockaz.com.
