If you grew up in the 70s or 80s, chances are you owned at least one Atari system. Later this year, the brand is launching a new initiative for gamers to geek out on: hotels. Construction on the first Atari hotel is set to begin later this year in Phoenix, and it’ll be like a video game come to life.
Dating back to 1972, Atari created iconic video games such as Pong, Asteroids and RollerCoaster Tycoon.
Nearly half a century later, the brand is embarking on a new journey: hotels.
Times are changing, and hardcore gamers constantly yearn for more realistic experiences that promise to take them outside the bounds of their consoles.
GSD Group, a company that works with "legacy" brands, and Napoleon Smith III, an executive producer of the most recent "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" films, were the brains behind the hotel idea.
Despite the subtle differences, there's one common attribute among every part of the hotel: hands-on interaction that will make guests never want to check out.
The latest virtual and augmented reality systems will truly bring the games to life.
All ages and gaming abilities will be accommodated!
Additional hotels are planned for Las Vegas, Denver, Chicago, Austin, Seattle, San Francisco, and San Jose. Some of these locations will be equipped with cutting-edge studios for e-sports events.
