Volcanoes aren’t limited to Hawaii—in fact, we have about 600 of them right here in Arizona (all extinct, however). Among them is Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument, a nearly millennium-old cinder cone that towers over 8,000 feet high. Park visitors can hike ancient lava flow trails, piecing together the beautifully destructive history of this incredible place.
Have you ever been to Sunset Crater? If so, what did you think of it? Let us know all about your experience in the comments below, and check out our previous article for a nearby underground lava cave that’s totally bucket-list-worthy.
