Wonder Lake Campground is closest to Denali, the great mountain that is the central attraction of Denali National Park & Preserve. Only 26 miles away from the mountain, you'll never forget the views from this sacred spot.
Make sure to book a reservation as this beautiful area is a hot spot for summer adventuring. You'll need bus tickets to get to the area as well, so plan in advance for this awesome adventure.
Mosquitos can be fierce and the bear are definitely in the area. Keep food and delicious smelling things like toothpaste in the bear-safe containers provided. If you follow the safety precautions laid out at the visitors center, you'll be fine.
Waking up in this beautiful location will truly make you wonder if you are dreaming. Bring your mountain bikes to explore the tundra and trails, or bike to or from the campground.
It is a 6-hour bus ride to reach the campground, or a slightly quicker drive in your own vehicle if you are permitted, but the journey is all worth it when you taste the Alaskan blueberries you pick in the fresh alpine air.
