Did you know that nearly 20 percent of Alaskans define themselves as having German heritage? It should be no surprise that our state is home to several great German restaurants, and there’s one right here in Anchorage that serves schnitzel so big it falls off the sides of the plate. Check out West Berlin
For tasty, authentic German food, head to West Berlin. No...not that West Berlin - it's long gone. This one is right here in Anchorage.
You'll find all kinds of German comfort food on the menu. From currywurst served alongside spaetzle to schweinebraten (a German pork roast dish), everything here is authentic as can be.
If schnitzel is what you crave, you've come to the right place. West Berlin makes its schnitzel with either pork or chicken, and you can get it plain, jagerschnitzel (with mushroom gravy, lemon, and parsley) or rahmschnitzel (with paprika cream sauce, mushrooms and onions).
Stop by West Berlin for lunch Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and for dinner from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.. The restaurant is open on Sundays from noon to 8 p.m..
Make sure to follow West Berlin’s Facebook page to see what’s new there, and tag all the friends you want to bring with you to this charming German restaurant!
