Follow A Historical Highway Along This Scenic Drive Through Alaska

If you’re looking for a jaw-dropping waterfront scenic drive in Alaska, the Seward Highway is where you need to be. Running from Anchorage all the way to Resurrection Bay in Seward, this stunning highway will take you along the Cook Inlet and through the mountains. It’s a stunning way to enjoy a 2.5-hour drive in Alaska.
There’s a gorgeous highway that runs from Anchorage all the way down to Seward.
This 127-mile drive will take you about two and half hours to complete, and will wind you through some of the most beautiful scenery in Alaska.
It has been designated a USDA Forest Service Scenic Byway, Alaska Scenic Byway, and an All-American Road.
And it’s no surprise as to why. This gorgeous highway stretches from the heart of Alaska’s biggest city, to a charming small town on Resurrection Bay.
The first 50 miles you’ll travel will be from Anchorage to the Kenai Peninsula.
This incredible ride takes you along the waters of the Cook Inlet. You’ll pass Potter Marsh and its incredible wildlife viewing opportunities.
Keep your eyes peeled for beluga whales when you’re traveling along the inlet.
During high tide, pods of them frequent the area and can be seen quite often. There’s also plenty of wildlife on the cliffs beside you, so keep your eyes peeled for goats and sheep!
The highway then takes you up into the mountains.
You’ll pass through Turnagain Pass, and be wowed by some of the incredible views you’ll find. There are plenty of moose in the area, so keep a sharp eye on the sides of the road for a glimpse of these large creatures.
You’ll pass by Kenai Lake and its impressive turquoise waters.
There are dozens of hiking trails along the way, so if you want to extend your trip, plan time for a stop. The views you’ll find from these trails are absolutely amazing.
